Rand Paul Blasts State Dept Denying Libyan Embassy Plane Access While Funding Vienna Embassy With $100K To “Green Up”

VERBATIM

rand paul

On Sunday’s “Newsmakers” on C-SPAN Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) said that the U.S. embassy in Libya was denied use of a DC-3 plane and then just four days later the State Department approved $100,000 to “green up” the Vienna U.S. embassy. Paul also asked why the sixteen person security team assigned to Ambassador Chris Stevens was removed from Libya in August when they “specifically requested to stay.”

The Kentucky Senator said, “I would hate to be the person who’s sitting there today who made the decision when it was requested that a security team stay in one of the most dangerous countries in the world that— would you like to be the bureaucrat in the State Department who said, ‘Oh, no. We don’t have the money. You need to come home.’”
“The same with the DC3,” he continued.
“What I’ve been pounding home is four days after that DC-3 was removed in May of 2012, they approved $100,000 to green up the embassy in Vienna, to spend some money on electrical charging stations for electric cars that cost the taxpayer $250,000 per car in subsidies.”
“This is a political statement that we’re making at the Vienna embassy,” Senator Paul said. “They want to show off for the Europeans to say, ‘Hey, we’re as European as you are, but yet, we don’t have money to provide for the basic security of an embassy. That to me is inexcusable, and whoever made those decisions, and they already know that. You don’t need a congressional investigation. Whoever made those decisions ought to be fired.”
According to the Vienna embassy’s website back in May of this year:
The U.S. Embassy Vienna opened the doors to Ambassador Eacho’s “green” residence with a gala dinner event, an exhibit by green-technology companies and an electric car and motorcycle show. The Embassy used the makeover to highlight U.S. government commitment to climate change solutions, and to successfully demonstrate the use of innovative clean energy technologies. Gerry Braun, director of the Davis Energy Institute, University of California, was the guest speaker at the Gala and gave a keynote speech at the Green World Forum the next day. Nobel Prize Laureate Betty Williams, the president of the Green World Forum, was a guest of honor at the Embassy gala.
It appears the Obama State Department were more interested in being “green” than protecting American citizens.

TWIN TIMELINE: What was happening in Benghazi and Washington

Last night I heard Newt Gingrich ask for a twin timeline to help illustrate what was happening in Benghazi and in Washington. Newt's wish is my command:

Mother Of Slain Benghazi Official: “Obama Murdered My Son”

Sean Smith

VERBATIM

Patricia Smith, mother of slain State Department employee Sean Patrick Smith has come out and blamed Barack Obama for her son’s death, which occurred during the September 11, 2012 attacks on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“I believe that Obama murdered my son,” she said Thursday from the living room of her Clairemont home. “I firmly believe this.”

Smith’s view echoes that of Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods, former Navy SEAL who died fighting in Benghazi.

Charles Woods appeared on Fox News shows over the weekend to denounce decisions made by U.S. officials during the Libya attack.

“I’m a retired attorney, and I know that these actions legally do not constitute murder. But in my mind the people in the White House, all of them who have authority to send in reinforcements to prevent what they knew was going to be the death of my son, are guilty of murdering my son,” Woods said Sunday on Fox’s Sean Hannity show.

Some believe that people are just looking for a place to direct their anger and they have Barack Obama to do that. Greg Doherty, older brother of Glen Doherty said that his brother and Tyrone Woods has been part of the force that responded to the consulate attack.

“They rescued a bunch of people and brought them to the (consulate) annex, and then people defended the annex after Glen and Ty fell. All those people didn’t get overrun and wiped out. They had enough people to fight off that battle,” said Doherty.

He said that the debate of needing more help doesn’t make sense to him, unless it was concerning U.S. airstrikes.

“But then you are getting into real specific strategy, and I don’t think it is civilians’ job to pick apart an actual battle and talk strategy, unless you are a general,” said Doherty. “It just seems like people are looking to direct their anger at Obama somehow.”

Charles Woods said, “I don’t want this to become political and become dishonoring to Ty.”
Sadly it is both a political issue and an issue of national security and since the Benghazi incident has every facet of a cover-up, it may also be criminal, even treasonous.

Former Navy SEAL Brent Gleeson said that an order given to stand down could have been because Woods and Doherty were outnumbered and had very little opportunity for success. Hoever, the CIA has completely denied that an order was given to stand down. He pointed out “If they are given the green light to go in and help, and they both die, that makes the decision-maker look bad.”
He also spoke to the issue of air support and troops being flown in. From UT San Diego:
“Logistically speaking, it’s not as black and white as people are making it sound. It’s not just, call for help and they fly in the reinforcements,” Gleeson said.
“If they fly people in, well great, how are they going to get to the target? They need vehicles. Where from? Unless the vehicles are staged there already, logistically in that situation it’s kind of a nightmare. They weren’t prepared for this, obviously.”
Calling in air support would have brought challenges, as well.
“There’s certainly the possibility of air cover, but then you are talking also about moving air assets into Libyan airspace — which would have spawned a whole other situation,” Gleeson said.

1869 Harvard Entrance Exam

Roundabout via Takuan Seiyo

Unless you had a very solid classics education in high school, know the sources of the Danube, the Volga, the Ganges, and the Amazon off the top of your head, and are comfortable tackling some hoary arithmetic and plane geometry without the help of a calculator or Wikipedia, you’re likely to find this Harvard entrance exam from 1899 more than a little challenging. (Thanks to the NYT for digging it up.)

Granted, Latin and Greek were de rigueur for the well-heeled youths of the day — they probably would have been stumped at the Spanish and Chinese that today’s high school students are learning — but there are plenty of college graduates today who would flee in terror at that first polynomial equation.

Full entrance exam below. How would you do?

Christie was Mitt's first choice for VP

One of the most tantalizing subplots of the 2012 campaign has been the curious and sometimes controversial performances of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Now, campaign insiders tell POLITICO that Christie was Mitt Romney’s first choice for the Republican ticket, lending an intriguing new context to the continuing drama around the Garden State governor.

The strong internal push for Christie, and Romney’s initial instinct to pick him as his running mate, reflects how conflicted the nominee remained about choosing a running mate until the very end of the process. At least on the surface, Christie and Paul Ryan are about as opposite as two Republicans could be: a brash outsider from the Northeast versus a bookish insider from the heartland.

And yet Romney switched from Christie to Ryan in a span of about two weeks, according to a detailed inside account provided to POLITICO.

Missouri Jack Hinson Shoot: After Action Report Missouri LS

 Jack Hinson

The first ever Missouri Jack Hinson Shoot is in the books! A great time was had by all on this beautiful weekend (20-21 Oct) that the Lord provided. We started bright and early on Saturday Morning with 21 shooters turning to test their skills. The shoot was opened with prayer by Pastor Wade Rabun, followed by a short introduction by Shoot Boss/Instructor Ralph Alkire. Next up was a little history on the namesake of this project, Jack Hinson. After this history lesson the first round of shooters was called to the line. There were 10 shooters in the first group. After instructions, explanation of shooting positions, and some demonstrations on marksmanship, the shooting was started. The rest of the morning was spent verifying zeros and shooting practice targets.

After a lunch break, the first AQTs were posted for the first group, when all was said and done (for some it was done more than once) there were nine of the ten shooters who scored above 215 to earn their Hinson Patch. After that kind of performance you could bet the heat was on for the second group when they took the line. After a second history lesson the second group was also a group of ten shooters who were chomping at the bit for their patch, and when it was all done four of those had reached their goal. After this group we had one lone shooter who needed to qualify, our Pastor Wade Rabun took the line with a bolt action rifle and fired a qualifying AQT to earn his Hinson Patch. After a closing prayer there was a lot of discussion at the close of the first day of Missouri's first Hinson Shoot. Lots of chili was consumed, lots of shots fired downrange, and lots confidence was built for day two.

Day two started just like day one, sunny and bright. Morning Church was conducted, with a great lunch to follow and shooting mats were laid out for the second day of shooting. Those who didn't qualify the day before took the line. There were a total of four shooters who took the line on day two, since some had already left before the second day attempt. When the afternoon shooting was over and we were preparing to learn about our local history, William Quantrill, there were four more Hinson Patches distributed. That would qualify everyone who stayed for the two day training and shoot (three of the shooters only attended day one and did not qualify).

In all Missouri had eighteen Hinson Patches earned. Of these patches, three were with bolt action rifles with open sights, and one with a Ruger 1022 with open sights. The top shooter for the weekend was 11- year- old Liberty R. with a score of 239. Missouri League is proud of this accomplishment and this opportunity to see our regular training pay off. We would like to thank those who worked hard to get this Jack Hinson Project together. We had a great time in this competition and are looking forward to hearing from other Hinson Shoots.

UDC

Well, we have come finally to the end of the recent political cycle of former elected UDC leaders from 2010-2012 terms.

On November 4th 2012 a new Monument will be unveiled to the great leadership of current UDC President General Martha Van Schaick on the grounds of the UDC HQ in Richmond. What have been the major accomplishments of her outgoing regime? Let's have a brief review, shall we?

April
2011 - Virginia UDC refuses any participation in the Virginia State Flag's 150th Anniversary. This is especially confusing seeing how Virginia UDC member Cassie Gravely wrote the Virginia State Flag Salute.

May 2011 - The Reidsville NC Confederate Monument was hit and only the statue only damaged. The local UDC and SCV and majority of the townsfolk demanded it be restored. A few black agitators demanded it be removed. NC UDC Div President Aileen Ezell agreed with the agitators and had the city of Reidsville remove the remaining undamaged memorial so a new marker could be placed in the cemetery so as "not to offend them" She later lied in the NC UDC newsletter claiming the NC SCV was trying to take control of all NC UDC Memorials.

Sept 2011 - Virginia UDC refused to assist in the fight against the Lexington Flag Ban ordinance.

Nov 2011 - Lynda Gramling of the Shreveport La UDC removed the 3rd National Flag from its 50 year home and replaced it with a US Flag rather than fight to keep it flying so as to appease our enemies. She also refused to allow it to fly at a local cemetery of Confederate dead , preferring to hide it inside the UDC building.

Dec 2011 - The UDC HQ was asked to help to restore the Battleflags to the Chapel, and they refused Here is the first communication, requesting Battle Flags to be raised in support of the Confederate War Memorial and the Va Flaggers:

This is the response received:
http://www.vaflaggers.com/udc1.5.pdf

April 2012 - Georgia UDC denies awards to 2 men who successfully fought a mega corporation to save a cemetery with 8 Confederate Veterans and to restore the Confederate flags to each 8 Confederate graves, because "they used the Confederate Battle flag"

April 2012 - For the Battle of Williamsburg 150th, a gathering took place at the Ft Magruder Redoubt. After refusing to fly ANY Confederate Flag at the Museum of the Confederacy at Appomattox, and having been exposed as a blatant liar, Museum President and CEO Waite Rawls is welcomed by the local UDC as the keynote speaker.

March - May 2012 - A Va UDC HQ member calls the Richmond Police on the Virginia Flaggers, using lies to get them to respond by claiming old men were climbing on the artillery pieces out front. UDC President General Martha Van Schaick signs a Trespassing Enforcement Authorization Letter so that any persons who are carrying any Confederate Flag on the United Daughters of the Confederacy property get arrested. The National UDC joins with the Va Museum of Fine Arts to oppose the restoration of the Confederate flags on the Confederate War Memorial Chapel.
Here is the initial report from the March 10 incident: http://www.vaflaggers.com/udc3.pdf
The statement issued by the President General, UDC: http://hqudc.org/about/pg_statement/index.html
...and the Va Flagger response: http://www.vaflaggers.com/udc2.pdf

June 2012 - The UDC under President General Martha Van Schaick orders security guards to stop Sons of Confederate Veterans Commander in Chief from entering the property during the UDC Massing of the Flags following the Jefferson Davis Memorial event http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151019144199274&set=a.10150768162319274.462130.698334273&type=1

Aug 2012 - Florida Div UDC President Gail Crosby, skeered of the Confederate Battle flag and a worshipper of the Holy Sacred IRS 501c3 rule, issues the following statement: "This is just a reminder that "Flagging" is political and goes against UDC bylaws. We are a non-political, Patriotic society and conduct, such as "Flagging", gives us all a bad name. UDC should not be represented in such a fashion and our Florida members are asked not to participate as "Flaggers”.” Gail Crosby, President, Florida Division UDC http://dixieoutfitters.com/p/heritage-treason-crosby.

…and most recently, and perhaps a sad sign of things to come if big changes do not occur with the incoming leadership…

Oct 2012 Arizona Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy is disbanded; no longer a division. There are still four chapters active in Arizona. The first Chapter in Arizona was established in 1909 in Bisbee and the Division was organized in 1918. Ninety-four years of history …destroyed.

Quite a legacy, indeed. Certainly deserving of a granite marker, bearing her name, on UDC headquarters property and perhaps fittingly placed on the sacred ground...where the battle flag is banned by a police order signed by her hand.
